My Story
I created Triumph, a social equity service syndicate, in December 2021 after several years of consideration. When I walked away from the man who abused me, it was the twelfth attempt to leave. Over 23 years I left twelve times and went back eleven times. At the twelfth time, I had little money in the bank, no place to live with my three children, and I did not have a plan for how to survive as a single parent; but I was determined to stop the abuse. The cost of rent for a three bedroom apartment in New Haven was more than what I could afford. Day by day and Sunday to Sunday, I focused on survival and grew determined to triumph over my upheaval. While I could not afford an apartment, I had just enough money for a down payment to purchase a small home! I also changed employment because I needed an increase in my salary to support myself and my children. I learned to manage my new life and sustain my family, but I was haunted by my past. I found that I was more sensitive to the social and emotional needs of my community and the dynamics of domestic violence. In essence, I realized that my past impacted my present: I had deep thoughts to aid all survivors and address generational trauma. It took a few years for me to gain the courage to tell my personal story as well as understand how I wanted to assist members of my community. When I created Triumph, I used knowledge extended from my education, experience gained during my employment, events that occurred in my life, and a deep desire to help people. It is my sincere belief that in-order to fortify our future we must manage life's circumstance and build personal prosperity through social health and emotional wellness.
